Shut Up & Write Meetup at Halcyon

At Shut Up & Write, we discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you with a 2-Hour writing session. Our Meetups generally vary between mornings, afternoons, and evenings on different days of the week, so writers with all different schedules can attend.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done and then chat with other writers!

SCHEDULE:

9:30 AM - Quick hellos and introductions, time to purchase refreshments

10:00 AM - Timer starts: write for 2 hours

12:00 PM - The End: wrap up, chat, keep writing, or take off

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING can happen briefly before and then also after the writing time. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?

Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

VENUE: Halcyon - 6365 Halcyon Way, Alpharetta, GA 30005

HOW TO FIND US: Look for the Shut Up & Write sign on the table. When there is a large number of RSVP's - we meet at the Food Court area right outside the cafe. Just look around, you will find us.

TRAVEL / PARKING: There is free parking in the garage. There is also a parking lot right in front that is $3.35 for 3 hours.

GUIDELINES: Please bring your laptops charged. There are some outlets inside but there may not be enough for everyone.
