Shut Up & Write!™ Cafe Óle Lakewood

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you, at 5pm on Thursday evenings at Cafe Ole.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

To help support the group and cafe Olè, we get a 10% discount. Just let them know at the counter that you're with the group.

SCHEDULE:

5:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.

5:15 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.

6:15 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing. Cafe Ole closes at 7pm.

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens after the session until 7pm. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?

Whatever you need to be able to write!

Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

Please, bring your laptop pre-charged, but there are outlets available if needed.

Other Important Details:

Cafe Ole does have WiFi. No password required.

TRAVEL / PARKING: The cafe is located two blocks north of Hampden (Hwy 285), or the first light South of Yale. Turn West on Eastman PL. Take a left into the second parking lot. (Not the Crawling Crab lot) Drive past the brewery Landlocked Ales and go right-the coffee shop is a couple doors down in the strip mall.

SEATING INFORMATION: I will reserve a table for our group. Look for the sign.

GUIDELINES: This is a small strip-mall coffee shop, featuring espresso drinks, frappes & smoothies with sweet & savory snacks with a southwestern zest. Please thank our hosts by purchasing something if you can.
