What we’re about
Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.
What to Expect
Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

Where: Madison Central Library, Room 209
When: Every Saturday, 10:00 AMJoin us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
What to Expect
10:00 -- Get settled in!
10:10 -- Quick introductions!

Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.
Being late is okay! Just show up and get settled, then check in with the host after the session. If you are on time, please be willing to make room for any friendly latecomers.
The library has free Wi-Fi. There are parking garages nearby, but keep in mind that the Capitol Square Farmer's Market often means parking is crowded. Consider public transit or cycling to get to the event.
What Should I Bring?

- Earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the occasional conversation by other patrons.
- Keep your laptop charged before the event as it's not always possible to charge everyone at once.
