Hiking 101: Larus Park 1.5 mile Black Friday Hike
Details
Join us for a 1.5 mile walk through the woods. Lewis G. Larus Park is a hidden gem offering several miles of trails through an oak and poplar forest. It's a great place to avoid the crazed Black Friday shoppers as you reconnect with the natural world.
The Hiking 101 series of outings is intended for participants who are new to hiking or would like to get outdoors but aren’t necessarily up for a long hike. The outing will begin with a short discussion about hiking, primarily focused on answering any questions you may have.
Although this is only a 1.5 mile hike there are some significant hills with an elevation change of over 100' in about 1/2 mile.
If you've never visited Larus Park from the Huguenot Road parking lot, it's easy to miss. The parking lot is between the Shell gas station and Richmond Fire Station 25.
Sierra Club requires all participants under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Bring: trail shoes or hiking boots (no sandals or flip flops), and water.
Cost: Free
Cancellation Policy: Steady Rain Cancels
