Outdoor Leadership Training Workshop
Details
We are working to get everyone back outside! The Sierra Club's Juniper Group continues the restart our outings program to the wondrous wild areas of Central Oregon and beyond. Since the days of John Muir, the Sierra Club has combined work with outdoor trips and adventures. The Club is committed to providing trip participants with a safe and enjoyable experience so we need a cadre of fun-loving and spirited outdoor leaders to get us back out there! We want you to join us!
This workshop is free. Pre-registration is required.
A Sierra Club “Outdoor Leadership Training”workshop is required to lead Club adventures along with First Aid. Additional, specialized training for some high risk activities may be necessary. This workshop is offering an outdoor training for aspiring trip leaders using new curriculum materials created by a task force of Sierra Club outdoor people from across the country. There are discussions about planning trips, managing challenging leadership situations, weather, and an assortment of policies and guidelines designed to make for a terrific outings program.
If you have led groups outdoors, we want you. If you have limited outdoor experience, but want to learn about taking people on hikes, pedals, or paddles, this workshop will get you started.
The venue for the workshop is a Hutchinson meeting room in the downtown Bend Library
We will break for lunch and there will be several breaks during the day. A laptop, tablet, or notepad may be helpful - key policy documents and checklists will be shared with participants.
