**SUMMARY**
On this hike in the high Sierras, we will hike to Donner Peak then onto Mount Judah in Tahoe National Forest and the Donner Truckee Land Trust Area while taking in the views of Donner Lake, Truckee, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, Lake Mary, and other nearby surrounding areas below.
Donner Peak rises 8,019 feet above sea level, and Mount Judah rises 8.243 feet above sea level, and both mountains are part of the Sierra Nevada Range. Starting elevation at the trailhead is about 7,100 feet.

**HIKING INFORMATION AND ESSENTIALS**
DIFFUCLTY: Intermediate or moderate due to some hills and high altitude.

DISTANCE: About 5.6 miles

ELEVATION: About 1,400 feet in overall elevation gain.

HIKING ROUTE: Start at Donner Peak/MT Judah Trailhead, then hike uphill on Pacific Crest Trail for about 1 mile, then turn left and hike uphill on the Mt Judah Loop Trail for about 7/10 of a mile, then turn left and hike uphill on a short spur trail to Donner Peak for about 1/5 of a mile, then backtrack and hike downhill to Mt Judah Loop Trail, then turn left and hike uphill on the Mt Judah Loop Trail for about 9/10 of a mile to the summit of Mount Judah. Have lunch and enjoy the views on top of Mt Judah for 20 to 30 minutes. After lunch, hike downhill on the Mt Judah Loop Trail for about 7/10 of a mile, then turn right and hike up and down the Pacific Crest Trail for about 2.1 miles back to the starting point.

DOG ALLOWED: Yes.

ESSENTIALS: Bring at least 2 litters of water, salty snacks, small lunch, first aid kit, sun protection ( hat, sunglasses, etc), hiking shoes/boots, bug/insect repellent spray, and hiking poles for the hills if needed.

**MEETING TIMES AND PLACES**
***For carpooling, meet 7:00 am at the Sun Splash park and ride next to Shell gas station on Taylor Rd in Roseville. Address is 1836 Taylor Rd, Roseville, CA 95661.***
Suggested carpool gas money, please pay your carpool driver the current price of gas per gallon, so about $5.00 per hour of driving time, and free parking at the park & ride.

***Take exit 174 toward Soda Springs/Norden. There is a gas station to the left of the stop sign after you exit 174. We will waite there and then car pool the the trail head***
