A great beginners hike and dog friendly to boot.

A trail around a small reservoir. The trail is shady and flat. It is in a forest of Ponderosa pine, madrones, cedars and dogwood. In spring there is an osprey nest. Later in the year it might be full of boats and campers, but it is sure peaceful in April and May. Earlier you may have to worry about snow. The best part of this trail is that I saw no poison oak.

Description: We will start from the dam and hike clockwise around the lake. The trail brings you along the lake shore. We will cross 2 bridges over inlet streams along the way. When we arrive at the back of the lake a picnic area with tables will be a stop for lunch. There are also pit style restrooms there that may be open. After lunch we will finish up the hike down the south shore. The north shore portion of the trail will have most of the elevation gain but nothing more than about 50 feet or so. Back to the dam and cars and finish of the hike.

Items to bring:

Water, Lunch, backpack, or Large Fanny Pack, Appropriate Clothing & Good hiking boots, trekking poles Sunscreen, Whistle - Helps if you get separated from the group, light rain gear, clean sandals/shoes for the return trip home. It may be cold there

Elevation Gain/Loss: Minimal, around 75 feet in a couple areas.

Altitude at Trail head: 3600 feet

Terrain: Mostly flat with some small up and downs on even mostly dirt with a few rocky, gravel areas.
