Enjoy the Christmas Holiday Season with a Sierra Club PRO hike at Oatlands National Historic Trust in Eastern Loudoun County, Virginia. Owned by the National Trust For Historic Preservation and located south of Leesburg along the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Historic Byway (Route 15), Oatlands is a gateway to the Virginia Horse Country and near James Monroe's home at Oak Hill which has been proposed as a new Virginia State Park. Our Christmas Season hike through this historic estate includes gardens, open meadows, streams, hardwood forests, and distant views of Bull Run Mountain. Distance: 5 miles over flat to rolling terrain. Optional tour of the Oatlands Manor House after the hike. Meet at 10AM at the main Oatlands Parking Lot near the Carraige House Visitor Center. Bring a day pack, hiking boots, winter weather clothing, lunch, trail snacks, and a quart of water.
