Celebrate the Christmas Holiday Season with a First Day of Winter hike at the National Colonial Farm and Piscataway Park. These two parks administered by the National Park Service and Accokeek Foundation are located in Southern Maryland on the east bank of the Potomac River directly across from George Washington's home at Mount Vernon. Enjoy woods, meadows, marshes, bald eagles, magnificent views of our national river, and a trip back in time to a colonial era farm. Distance: 6 miles over totally flat terrain including a scenic stretch of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. Bring a day pack, hiking boots, winter outdoor clothing, lunch, trail snacks, and a quart of water. Meet at 11:AM at the National Colonial Farm Parking Lot at the end of Bryan Point Road in Prince George's County, Maryland.
