What we’re about
Join us for an evening of introvert-friendly socializing at the Hamden chapter of the Silent Book Club!
What the heck is a silent book club? The official deets are here. But basically, it’s a book club without the assigned reading. Just grab whatever book you’ve got going and read silently for an hour alongside other readers in a comfortable public space.
We’ll be meeting the first and third Monday of every month at Panera Bread in the Hamden Plaza. **Note: Beginning in January, 2025, we'll be meeting every other Monday instead of the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month!**
There’s an hour of dedicated reading time, before and after which there will be time to socialize as much or as little as you like. Here’s a rough schedule:
- 7:00-7:15 — Arrive, order something to eat or drink, and get settled.
- 7:15-8:15 — Read!
- 8:15-? — Stay to hang out or go home; keep reading or keep socializing (at least until Panera closes at 9:00 p.m.).
We’re aiming for a very low-key event here. There’s no pressure to talk to anybody, and certainly no pressure to read any particular book or genre. We’re also keeping the numbers reasonably small to keep it from becoming overwhelming. Hope to see you there!
Co-hosted by Debra, Liz, and Max.
