The second Meetup of Songwriters will be dedicated to performance, more precisely to the very common issue of stage fright or performance anxiety.
Have you ever had shaky hands while fingerpicking, sweated profusely on stage, had a tight, dry throat while singing, heard your heart beating uncontrollably, even thought you would faint at some point? Then I invite you to share these experiences and defeat your fears in front of other fellow singer-songwriters!
In the first 30 minutes we will be sharing our personal experiences with stage fright and discuss possible techniques to help us combat this unpleasant feeling.
The rest of the 90 minutes participants will be invited to take the stage, and face their worst stage fears while performing a song.
As was the case last time, you will be invited to perform a finished or unfinished original song, and after you're finished you'll be able to get constructive feedback from other participants (but also refuse it).
If you want to showcase your recorded work, we will also try to find time for that, but the main goal of this meetup is to practice performing live, so the live performances will have priority.
I will bring my acoustic guitar that you are free to use, but you can also bring your own preferred instrument, for example a synth. The open mic will again be acoustic, which means no microphones.
Cafe Maggie can host about 25 people, so even if the limit of 10 people is reached on this app, feel free to check out this event.
