HIKE: Johnson Ferry North 5 miles
Details
This is beyond a doubt one of the prettiest local hikes. There are a few creek crossings so your hiking boots may get a bit wet - nothing crazy, just muddy wet soles. They have taken out the pipe crossing with bridges now and most of the construction is gone and all the trails are open even the scenic hooch parts. We will loop the lake at Hyde Farm as well. So Beautiful. This is one of my most beautiful hikes. And don't let me forget Morgan Falls Dam.
We should be able to complete in just under two hours. Not a hard, super fast hike. Want to enjoy this beautiful park, enjoy blooming trees and some early season wildflowers. We will walk along the Hooch for part of the trail.
Prefer no dogs...
Parking $5 for the day unless you have a CRNRA annual pass in your vehicle.
Pass can be purchased at the Kiosk in the parking lot - I understand that they don't take cash any longer - you should be able to scan a code with your phone and pay electronically. or prior to hike go to this website and purchase a daily or annual pass https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm
The Johnson Ferry North trailhead is located near where Johnson Ferry Road crosses the Chattahoochee River. The park is located on the Cobb County side of the river and the park entrance is directly across from Columns Drive. There is a traffic light at this intersection. We will be coming from Columns drive and dead into this parking lot.
Address (not sure if it's 100% accurate) 301 Johnson Ferry Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30068, Ignore the pin on the map it is put on my meetup and may not be correct.
If you are coming from East Cobb, the park is on the left side of JFR immediately before crossing the river. If coming from Sandy Springs, turn right immediately after crossing the river. You will see the parking pay station immediately in front of you and a gate. Drive through the gate and proceed to the back parking lot where we will meet.
