Nakiska Ski Day - moving to Fridays - Buy passes now!
Details
For the past few years, I've been running Nakiska ski days every week or two from December to March on Tuesdays.
Due to my school schedule, I have to switch my Nakiska days to Fridays for the 2024/2025 ski year.
I ski mainly blue runs off the silver chair, but we can divide into groups as needed or all ski together.
The start date is tentative. We will start our ski days when the silver chair is open. I will post one a week starting in early December, but they are conditional on: the weather (freezing cold, very windy, icy roads), the trail conditions (only a few runs open, silver chair closed, icy or poor conditions), and my health and school schedule (ie. if I have an exam or a major paper due Friday or Saturday, I may cancel it). Overall, we should end up skiing about every two weeks, on average.
While the group changes slightly week to week, if you only ski green (beginner) runs, you may be on your own for part of the day. You can also book yourself private or group lessons, for any level.
I recommend buying your ski pass for next year now until June 14th. The early season prices are $419 for an adult or $339 for a senior. Please don't buy a Monday to Thursday pass, since we're now skiing on Fridays.
Participants can drive themselves to Nakiska, or carpool from Petro Canada at hwy 1 and 22. Gas fee will range between $15-$20 based on current gas prices. Drivers need a Kananaskis park pass.
WAIVER:
As per the new policy for waivers, I will bring the group waiver form with me to the Meet-up location and the trailhead. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this event. You will also be asked for the name and phone number of an emergency contact. Please come prepared with this information.
You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you're physically fit to do this event with the group
Your participation in this event means you have read the waiver and by signing up for this event you have accepted the waiver. If you have stated "no" in your profile you will not be accepted to participate. You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. We usually ski from 10am-2pm, with a break for lunch about 12:30pm.
All Slow and Steady policies apply and the Waiver must be signed before each event. If you are unwilling to do so, please don't sign up.
If you cannot attend, please take your name off the list by 6pm the night before. No shows without a good reason will be marked on your account. It's very frustrating for the group to be waiting for someone who doesn't show up.
Every week on Friday until December 26, 2024
