What we’re about
Sober Outdoors is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting sober and sober-curious individuals with the healing properties of nature, the backcountry, and all things outdoors.
Embracing the profound nuances of addiction, Sober Outdoors extends its compassionate hand to those grappling with a myriad of destructive and seemingly benign dependencies. Beyond the clutches of substances, our mission resonates far and wide, acknowledging Substance Use Disorder as merely one facet of the intricate tapestry of addictions afflicting millions globally. Sober Outdoors stands as an all-encompassing sanctuary, embracing the shattered pieces of lives affected by addiction.
Whether you tread the path of sobriety with unwavering determination or are merely curious about the possibilities it holds, whether you stand as a steadfast ally or a distant acquaintance, we stand resolute beside you. We exist not merely to support, but to nurture your recovery journey. Through a tapestry of resources, meticulously curated outdoor events within your local sphere, and a rich repository of wisdom encapsulated in our blog, resources page, and member’s area, we offer a holistic approach to healing.
Yet, our essence lies not in the tools we provide, but in the community we foster. Within the hallowed grounds of Sober Outdoors, friendships blossom with a depth and weight that echoes a lifetime. We are more than an organization; we are a refuge, where understanding transcends words, and healing is not merely a destination, but a transformative journey. Join us, and together, let’s carve a path towards recovery, laden with the profound connections that make life’s burdens lighter.
Sober Outdoors was founded and is proudly owned and operated by individuals from the LGBTQ+ community. With a passionate commitment to fostering inclusion, diversity, equity, and equality, the organization strives to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals on the path to recovery from addiction and substance use disorder. Through organizing outdoor events and adventures, Sober Outdoors not only promotes healing and recovery but also creates a vibrant community that celebrates the joy of sobriety and the transformative power of nature.
