Social Deduction - Blood on the Clocktower
Details
Our host Kevin will be running these sessions, but if you're interested in being a co-Storyteller or getting in on the action as a player just let us know! We're currently running Sects & Violets. If you're not familiar with the game, that's totally okay! We're all new, but we will not have time day of to go over everything. Please join the Discord ahead of time to ask questions. We also have plenty of resources to share. If you're interested, but all of this sounds overwhelming, it's okay! There's a brief description of the basic rules below, but for a more in depth review of the rules, the roles, and game as a whole, Blood on the Clocktower does have an official YouTube channel that gives tutorials for each of the sets as well as some Let's Play videos, if you're interested in seeing how things play out.
We are moving these games to a private location. For information on the location, please feel free to send me a message here or reach out on our Discord server.
What even is this game?
It's a social deduction game, similar to Werewolf and Mafia. It's okay if you're not familiar with those either, though! You'll be randomly assigned a role. You'll be a Demon, a Minion (who helps the Demon), a Townsfolk, or an Outsider (who wins with the Townsfolk, but generally have negative or ambiguous powers/effects). Throughout the game the Demon and the Minions will try to "kill" all the Townsfolk and the Townsfolk will try to figure out who's doing all the killing and remove them from the town.
Unlike other games in this genre, being "killed" does not remove you from the game. You still get to participate in discussions during the day, and even get one final vote during the game.
How does this work?
At the start of the game, we'll all reach into a bag and get a token with the name of a role on it. Each player will also have a reference sheet that they keep for the duration of the night. The reference sheet will give the rules for each of the roles in the set we're playing with. Throughout the in-game days, the players will all chat and share what information they choose with the other players to try to figure out who the baddies are (if you're Townsfolk or Outsiders) or try to sew confusion and get the Townsfolk to turn on each other (if you're a Demon or Minion). During the evening, the Townsfolk will gather in the town center and discuss what they've learned and decide whether to remove someone from the town through nominations and votes and share information with the group at large. During the nights, most of the powers activate. The Demon selects a person to "kill" Townsfolk might get information or get the opportunity to offer protection to someone they trust, or any of a number of different abilities. The discussions for the next day are typically based on the events of the night before.
Ending the game
The game ends when their are only 2 players alive or the Townsfolk eliminate the demon.
Additional Information
This game also has some pretty fun options for alternative roles, in the event that any of this is too stressful, you think you might require additional help, or you don't want to commit to a full game. Just let us know what you need ahead of time, and we'll try our best to accommodate your needs! You can find a great breakdown of how the game works here if you'd like to learn:

We also recommend checking out strategy tips for the roles in the wiki if you're new so you have some idea of what to do with your role. We'll post the relevant script(s) in the Discord ahead of time.
