HOLIDAY BLOCK PARTY 🎅🎸🎄🍺 - Lights in the Heights

Hey Everyone,

As our regular revelers may recall, every year the Heights puts out it's best holiday decorations, gets a variety of musical groups, blocks off the streets and has a HUGE block party - LIGHTS IN THE HEIGHTS ! If you want something to get you in the holiday spirit this is THE event you don't want to miss !

PART ONE - CHECK OUT THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

From 5:30 til 7:00 - We'll start off at Antidote Coffee to congregate and grab a hot beverage before heading across the street to check out the lights. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THIS EVENT WE WILL BE LEAVING ANTIDOTE RIGHT AT 7:00 PM. IF YOU HAVE NOT ARRIVED BY 7:00 PM YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO LOCATE THE GROUP (and instead can meet us at Benny Thunder's at 9 PM).

From 7:00 til 9ish - We'll walk the streets, check out the lights and the music and take in the overall Christmas vibe. Every house will have tons of decorations and several houses in the neighborhood will have musical groups playing on their porches and yards. This portion of the evening will be very low key. If you're looking for some traditional Christmas nostalgia - this will definitely get you there ! After that ,,,,,

PART TWO - BAR HOP ALONG WHITE OAK

From 9ish til 11 - Let's hit up BENNY THUNDERS. Named after an accomplished local musician who idolized '70s punk guitarist Johnny Thunder - Benny Thunders honors the local musician (Ben Kearney) - who passed away in 2020. The bar combines a rock music vibe with the opportunity for customers to join the "Self-Pour Revolution" that has already been pioneered by a couple of other Houston venues over the last year. One cool little "nugget" about Benny Thunder's Wall of Beer (and Wine), is that each pour can be as small (or large) as you like - with the price adjusted by the sensor on "the Wall." Benny Thunders' street address is: 605 Columbia Street (https://goo.gl/maps/je44eFczbW1Gmyn2A), right behind EZ's Liquor Lounge. Now Benny's closes around 11. Which brings us to our second bar of the night ,,,,and one of my personal favorites ,,,,,,EZ's LIQUOR LOUNGE.

From 11 til ??? - the "Liquor Lounge" is just across the parking lot from Benny Thunder's and right along the street on White Oak - so impossible to miss. For those that haven't been, the place combines a "clean-cut casual" décor with upscale cocktails, a pool table and an outdoor patio to give an overall awesome vibe. Once we've had a chance to check out the Liquor Lounge, we can head back east along White Oak and revisit the more familiar haunts (Onion Creek/Christian's Tailgate/Little Woodrow's, etc.) as the night unfolds.
