What we’re about
Hi Folks
Thanks for joining this group.
The purpose of this group is to connect people with an interest in outdoors activities, with like-minded folks. So that we can all have more enjoyable, safe and worthwhile experiences. I've decided to add an additional passion of mine, Social justice. Hopefully people would be inclined to feel comfortable with expressing their fact-based views on the issues of the day and perhaps even welcome the opportunity to do our part to help create a better world when and where possible. Truth and growth, properly applied can help create a win-win dynamic.
This group was originally started by someone else & i took it over a couple of years ago. At present, Jun21st 2020, in this era of covid19, we have to make some adjustments and develop better practices to help mitigate risks and optimize people's experience. So i warmly welcome you to share your input on how to improve things
The idea is simple: we meet up to enjoy a hike (or a walk) in the Vancouver area, then we top off the experience with a delicious meal at a nearby vegetarian, vegan or veggie-friendly restaurant. Beautiful nature, time outdoors and delicious vegetarian or vegan food! We are friendly and easy-going, and we love it when veggie hikers propose and organize events.
This is a group for positive people, who love the outdoors, have an interest in social justice, want to meet wonderful people and want to bring their best self to the hikes.
Note: You don't have to be vegetarian or vegan to be a part of Vancouver Veggie Hikers & Activities Meetup Group. However, you are expected to respect the choice and lifestyle of those who are because one aim of this group is to provide an environment for veg*n outdoor-minded people to hike and have fun. Eating meat/fish/dairy at veggie hiker events is not welcome and i will kindly ask you to not bring animal based foods to our hikes. Please respect that.
Moreover, this is not a professional led group. We are strictly volunteer organizers, and by joining this group and participating in events you effectively agree to take personal responsibility for your own conduct, and will hold anyone else liable for any negative situations.
