We don't just run, we also go to museums! Join us on Friday, November 15 for a private "Arms and Armor" tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art led by Nina, the mother of one of our runners, Emma.
The Met is the only museum in the Americas with a separate department of Arms & Armor. On this tour, the focus is on arms and armor as works of art. You’ll see objects of incredible craftsmanship and decoration, from many different cultures. You’ll also learn how arms and armor have been used not just for combat, but also for pageantry, sport, hunting, as political tools, as diplomatic gifts, and even as a form of advertising. There’s a lot more to arms and armor than you think!
The tour is one hour long (with time for questions after) and free. To enter the museum though you do have to buy tickets online or in person* - it is pay as you wish if you have a New York State billing address. Please plan to arrive at 6:20pm. We will set off from the meeting area as a group at 6:30pm sharp.
The RSVP list is limited to 20 people for the tour due to museum policies. However you are welcome to join the crew for further perusing, live music, drinks and food at the MET after the tour concludes if you are on the waitlist - see link below for details on fun activities at the MET on Saturday evenings.
