Friday Social - Exhibition Launch Party at Nottingham Contemporary

Join us and Nottingham Contemporary (NC) in celebrating the launch of their new exhibition, Donald Rodney: Visceral Canker. This major retrospective combines nearly all that survives of the late British artist Donald Rodney’s work across painting, drawing, installation, sculpture and digital media with rare archive materials. The exhibition highlights Rodney's significance to the recent history of British art and re-addresses themes of racial identity, chronic illness, Black masculinity and Britain’s colonial past.

• Galleries Open 6.30 - 9 pm
• Blend at Contemporary Open until 11 pm with delicious food and drinks.
• Party the night away with music in their downstairs space
• FREE admission for all, but donations are both encouraged and needed. As a registered charity, every donation – no matter the size – makes a big difference. Suggested donation is £5. Thank you.

After NC, we will do a bar crawl across Nottingham!

Congratulations on taking the brave step of joining me for your first event! We've all been in this situation before attending our first Meetup, and it's normal to feel a little nervous. My hope is that you fully immerse yourself in the art, music and food. If you have trouble finding the venue, please don't hesitate to message me for assistance.

Further Context: I have been a Board Member / Trustee of Nottingham Contemporary since 2020, so I am happy to speak about their work if you haven't been before! Every event I organise is closely connected to who I am.
