What we’re about

The SCA community includes over 30,000 members in 20 kingdoms around the world. Our participants learn about the arts, skills, and culture of global historical cultures up to the 17th century in an atmosphere of fun, through tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, classes, hands-on workshops, and more.

In the Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr (CAM), you will surely find more than enough to pique your interests. If it was done in the Middle Ages, chances are that someone somewhere in the SCA is doing it now, and if you're wondering about something else that you don't see someone doing or talking about already, just ask! We might be able to introduce you to someone who has the same or a similar interest. One of the great joys of the SCA is making friends - locally, regionally, nationally and globally!

Throughout the year CAM hosts events that commonly include tournaments of combat, games, classes, feasts, crafts, and Court -- in which the Baronial Coronet and/or the Kingdom Royalty recognize and reward participants' accomplishments and contributions! While some events are strictly local, casual affairs, other events draw people from around the Kingdom of Northshield and even some from other kingdoms of the Known World.

Throughout the week, you can also attend gatherings centered around all kinds of things, including:
*Calligraphy & Illumination
*Sewing & costuming
*Archery & Thrown Weapons practice
*Armored or "heavy" combat (real armor, but rattan weapons)
*Rapier or fencing practice (real armor and blunted steel weapons)
*Youth "boffer" combat practice
We also have a very active student group based at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee called Students for Creative Anachronism.

If you would like to know more about our Barony, stay up to date on what's happening or just keep in touch, you can find us also on Facebook at "Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr - Discussion Group".
