What we’re about
Do you knit or crochet? Great! Put your latest project in a tote bag and join us for a drink (coffee or beer) and some time light socializing! We will occasionally make things for charity but will also just talk about yarn and patterns and help solve each other's yarn issues.
Don't know how to knit or crochet but want to learn? Great! Reach out to one of organizers who can guide you to some video tutorials and a shopping list to get you started and then join us at your next event!
Why crochet or knit? One, it's a cheap hobby to start. It's great for your blood pressure and lowering stress. Plus you'll have hats and scarves and sweaters and afghans and stuffed animals to show for your time. It's a hobby you can easily take onto planes and do while watching tv or listening to an audiobook/podcast.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Yarn Circle Meet and GreetPiecewise Coffee Co., Cayce, SC
Bring something to work on and join us for a meet and greet at Piecewise Coffee! If the weather is sunny, we'll grab a table out back at a picnic table; if the weather is gloomy, we'll be in the overflow space to the right of the coffee bar - you can either go out the front door and walk into the right side or you can go through the back door and through the patio to the right side. But first, grab a coffee or your drink of choice and scones/biscuits are delicious!
A few rules:
- Bring a project to work on! It should be something smallish and relatively portable.
- We completely understand when things come up so if you can't make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible. That way we don't annoy coffee shop owners by saving too many seats for people who never show.
- Feel welcome to bring a guest but remember to pull the larger group into conversations. This is a great opportunity to make new connections!
- Buy something - Support local business!
If you're new to knit or crochet, please shoot me a pm or comment in the chat/discussion of the event and I or one of our members will be happy to send you a shopping list and some links to tutorials online to get you started!
See you there and looking forward to meeting you.
This event is cross posted with the Yarnbombers of Columbia. I encourage you to RSVP here instead of facebook if you're a member of both as I am trying to grow this meetup.
P.S. There is a community project on-going right now. Check out the main discussion board for more info. We're making squares to compile into afghans/scarves for non-profits. GROUP PROJECT DISCUSSION BOARD POST
