Biotech Innovation - Point of Care Diagnostics
Details
This Special Interest Group serves the Biotechnology community of scientists interested in discussing innovation. Next month, we are experimenting with remote attendees using Microsoft Teams and the fantastic conference facilities provided by Hardy Diagnostics. The goal of a Special Interest Group is to create a community large enough to have a high-energy conversation but small enough that connections are made. A SIG is a campfire conversation, not a convention or seminar. Attendees are reminded to keep private or confidential information out of this public meeting.
Agenda
- Kick-Off, Purpose, Goal, and Protocol
- Fun Focus Activity
- 60 Second Innovation Pitches
- Focus Topic Discussion
Everyone is expected to participate in the Innovation Pitches, and if you do not have an idea to pitch, we will ask you to speak for 60 seconds on a question of your choosing. There are no hiding spaces for lurkers, and everyone talks at least once.
Register early or risk missing out.
Biotech Innovation is exceptionally wide and diverse, and it was decided that the group would select a focus topic each month. Here is the current working topic list:
- Point of Care Diagnostics
- Personalized Medicine
- CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing
- mRNA Vaccines
- CAR-T Cell Therapy
- Organoids and Lab-Grown Organs
- Synthetic Biology
- 3D Bioprinting
- Liquid Biopsy
- Microbiome Therapeutics
- Gene Therapy and RNA Interference (RNAi)
- Biosensors and Wearable Biotechnology
The group decided to focus on “Point of Care Diagnostics” for October and select the next topic at the end of each meeting. The group has set some protocol guidelines.
- Speakers are limited to 60 seconds.
- To talk, you stand and wait for the current speaker to finish.
- Any member can extend the speaker’s time by 60 seconds by saying, “Tell me more.”
Pitches
Everyone pitches an idea or answers a question and speaks for 60 seconds.
Co-Hosts
Softec and Hardy Diagnostics co-host this group. Bob Dumouchel (Softec, President) and Alani Vasquez (Hardy, R&D Manager). They share the responsibility of the discussion lead. As this is a public meeting, nobody is in charge; the group is led by consensus.
We look forward to being of service to the Biotechnology Innovation Community. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
