Every year, The SoNo Photography Center kicks off our new season giving back to the artistic community by offering free headshots for Performing and Visual Artists. This is part of our stated mission of “Artists helping artists”.

Performance artists rely on headshots to get work! So far, we’ve gotten two woman NYC dancers and we are working on getting us a male model.

**What we’ll learn:**

* My one light wonder, Headshot lighting, using a Mola Beauty Dish and a Westcott Eyeliner. This small space solution yields beautiful skin texture and magnificent catchlight in the eyes.
* Headshots are a commodity, not a work of art. These photos are designed to get your client work!
* Lighting and posing for Men vs. Women.
* Discussion of catchlight in the eyes.
* The importance of headshot perspective.
* Incident light metering.
* Use of an 18% Grey Card.

**What you need to know:**

* Know how to use your camera with a radio trigger (Pocket Wizard) on the hot shoe.

**What you need to bring:**

* A digital camera with a normal to portrait zoom lens.
* A Pocket Wizard radio remote if you have one.

**About our Mentor:**

* Bennett was headshot photographer for Kurland Studios in Greenwich Village, NYC, for many years.

**Limitations:**

* Not all photographers will get to shoot all models
