\*\*\*Please take your bike out for a trial ride BEFORE you come on this ride. You need to make sure your bike is still in operating order and the tires hold air. You also need a spare bike tube in case you get a flat. Of course, wearing a helmet is a requirement. As you can see from the picture, we wear bright colors for visibility reasons!! Don't forget a liter or 2 of water! *Make sure to read and understand Guidelines for Riding with this group that are listed below.*
**GUIDELINES FOR RIDING WITH OUR GROUP**
***We are a collection of road bikes, gravel bikes, hybrid bikes and e-bikes. All are fine to ride and welcome. That said the overall pace will be kept by the designated leader of the particular ride and will not exceed 13.5 mph.* Of course, those with only leg power are slower up the hills . If there are hills quicker riders will wait in a safe place after the hill for all riders. The groups average speed is usually around 12 mph, but we are there to enjoy the route not, win the Tour de France so we will go at a pace that works for the group that is present.**
**Cycling is a danger for you and for the group at large if you are not following our guideline. It is highly important that you do follow the rules of the road and the group.**

* Your bicycle is a vehicle on the road and is subject to the same traffic requirements as any car such as stopping at red lights etc. Learn and use all hand signals when riding with the group. It is the way we communicate with motorists and each other on our intent to turn, stop/slow down, or alert others to debris in the road ahead.
* When riding on roads we as a rule always travel single file and keep aware of both traffic behind us and in front of us. You will hear frequently on any ride "Car Back" when we are on roads that do not have bike lanes or wide shoulders. This is our group alerting each other of cars behind us and for us to immediately do what we can to have the car pass us safely. **YOU SHOULD NEVER BE TWO ABREAST IF YOU HEAR THIS.** If you can safely find a driveway or layby to pull over to let the car pass, you can help that driver not get anxious and make an unsafe move.
* To be able to hear ongoing traffic and various verbal signals like "car back" for all riders, the use of any device that inhibits the rider or the group to hear is prohibited
* We do stop at various parts of the route and regroup. Many routes have bailouts (shorter versions) and please let the organizer know if you are going to leave the group and do a shorter version
* Bicyclists have a tarnished reputation in our area simply because there are a few riders whom ride two or three abreast, show no awareness of the cars they are impacting, and do dangerous turns without signaling, etc. etc. We should and will be part of the solution not part of the problem.

The route will be either 27 or 25 miles starting at the park and ride at Rommel Road in Geyserville. We will head out (with a short diversion) on Geyserville Ave straight on to Asti where we will cross over to River Road on the Asti Bridge. We will follow River road to Crocker where we will go through the park onto McCray. We will turn on North Redwood Highway and head south into Cloverdale for coffee. We will all set out of Cloverdale onto Dutcher Road. Those that want the hills home will take Dutcher over to Dry Creek Road and back over Canyon Road to Geyserville Ave and the cars. Those that would rather a less hilly ride will turn on Teresa onto Asti , hop over to the other side of the freeway at Zanzi, take Chianti to Canyon to Geyserville and the cars
