What we’re about
I'm creating this group to start folk/country/Americana/blues/trad/songwritery music filled evenings, acoustic setting, where we meet to play songs together and enjoy each other's live music. Whether it's your own song, a rendition or a cover, it's all welcome.
The basic concept is similar to a songwriting or poetry circle - anyone can join who wants to play an instrument or sing. It's a social event to enjoy live acoustic music together, in a relaxed setting and without fuss. Everyone will be expected to not to talk and be respectful during the music since the set up will be unplugged and people of all levels will be welcome to join.
The concept is to go around in a circle/around the room and play a song each. If we want to continue on, people can play more songs if there's time. If many people attend a session, we'll have a sign up sheet for order of play so you play on a first come first serve basis.
Hopefully over time, people will naturally begin to work together on duets/group pieces and we can maybe one day even set up gigs if there is interest.
You don't have to play an instrument - singers are welcome to do a song acappella or see if other musicians in the group would like to play in groups in the future.
Once I have some people interested, I will set up an evening in a pub or cafe once every two weeks/once a month where we can meet and share our music. I'll coordinate and happy for any help from people willing to get involved in helping with that, especially with advertising the event.
