Name: Hinton Ampner to Cheriton Circular Walk

This 7.5 mile undulating walk traverses the site of the Battle of Cheriton (29th March 1644) between the Roundhead Army of the Southern Association (10,000) and Royalist forces (7,000), with the Parliamentarians’ victory influencing the outcome of the English Civil War. The walk follows ancient lanes and footpaths, including the Wayfarers Walk and the Itchen Way. Two thirds through the walk we reach the village of Cheriton where we can stop for lunch at The Flower Pots Inn, before completing the circuit back through the Hinton Ampner Estate.
