Building Your First Command Line Interface - A Code-Along Workshop
Details
Join Us for a Special User-Group Twofer with Spokane Python!
Are you on the fence or looking to expand your programming horizons? Then this is the event for you! Join us for a unique event where we will be doing a code-along building a CLI app using Python, and then using native Rust.
Now, Rust can be intimidating, but there is nothing more friendly than Python; if find yourself agreeing with that, then you're in luck! This one-after-another special presentation will help you connect the dots between the two languages to create two effectively feature-paired CLIs. There is no better way to explore a language more deeply than to compare and contrast how it handles foundational programming concepts with another language.
What to Expect:
- Authoring a CLI: Step-by-step guidance on designing and implementing a basic CLI tool in Rust.
- Interactive Code-Along: We’ll walk through the coding step by step, so you can build the CLI alongside other participants.
- Insightful Tips: Learn best practices, modular design, and helpful libraries to make your CLI effective and user-friendly.
- Q&A: Get your questions answered and discuss use cases with fellow Rust and Python enthusiasts.
What to Bring:
- A laptop with a valid rustup toolchain installed (We'll be there to help if you have any difficulties with this)
- If you'd like to code-along for Python, then ensure your laptop also has Python 3.x installed
- Don't leave your enthusiasm at home!
