**This is a High School Play and Seniors are invited to attend the dress rehearsal for free. Last spring the production they did was excellent. Wikipedia has an excellent description of the story of this novel. We will meet in the hallway outside the auditorium at 6:45 so we can all sit together. Remember to pay your host $1 when attending this event if you have not paid your yearly dues.**

***Sense and Sensibility*** is the [first novel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debut_novel "Debut novel") by the English author [Jane Austen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Austen "Jane Austen"), published in 1811. It was published anonymously; *By A Lady* appears on the title page where the author's name might have been. It tells the story of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor (age 19) and Marianne (age 16½) as they come of age. They have an older half-brother, John, and a younger sister, Margaret (age 13). The novel is set in [South West England](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_West_England "South West England"), [London](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London "London"), and [Sussex](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sussex "Sussex"), probably between 1792 and 1797.
