SPS has three standing meetings each month for its members and guests. The First Friday meeting features an outside speaker and a members’ image competition. While competition entries at these monthly meetings are restricted to currently paid-up members, we ALWAYS welcome visitors interested in photography to attend. The Learnshops (fourth Tuesdays) and Coffee & Critique (second Saturdays) are intended for members, but again, we welcome visitors. If you attend regularly, we ask that you help support the club (which pays for the rental of the facilities, supplies, and equipment) by becoming a member!

Please join us for our October First Friday meeting featuring photographer Mark Caceres, and enter our print image competition, “Architecture” (more information below.)
Mark says: “My presentation will be an overview of my photography from 2010 to the present with an emphasis on why I love photographing people and how to approach strangers you would like to photograph."
Mark Cáceres was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina before settling in the United States at an early age. His interest in photography began while pursuing his degree in anthropology at Emory University. His studies and his experience as a migrant have shaped his fascination with the wide range of cultures both in the U.S. and abroad. His photography poses questions about identity and belief systems, and challenges viewers to find connections with what may initially seem unfamiliar or mysterious.
His work has been exhibited throughout the United States and has appeared in Oxford American, Huffpost, Lenscratch, Reading the Pictures, and South X Southeast Photo Magazine.
