Drawing On Location in St Albans

Now that it's getting too cold to draw outdoors, we're back with a weekday evening mini-sketching session! For everyone who's busy on the weekends but would like to get together after work to spend an hour or so sketching.

Location: The White Lion. We've got a big square table in the back (to the left of the bar.

We'll be in a cafe or pub for these sessions (because of the season), so you can bring your own reference pictures of things you'd like to sketch (landscapes, buildings, anything you like) or use the time to practice sketching people or things from your environment.

This is a 1.5 hour event, so please do arrive on time so you don't miss out.

Sketching enthusiasts of all levels are welcome. For anyone who hasn't attended one of our events before, don't worry about feeling left out! Each event usually has new members and people joining by themselves.

Notes:
- Please bring your own drawing materials.
- If you can't make it, please update your RSVP so anyone from the waiting list can claim their spot.
- If you're able to contribute to the Meetup admin costs in cash, that is always appreciated. (Suggested £1 for midweek shorter sessions, £2 for weekend meetups)

We're back drawing at St Albans Cathedral! As it's likely to be quite cold, we'll be drawing inside for this event.

I thought it would be fun to catch the 11.30am tour of the cathedral (1 hour) to learn a bit more about what we're drawing and we can start the sketching at 12.30. The tour is free, but if we have 6 people or more we'll have to book a private and paid tour (£10 each), which we can ask to be specifically about the decorations and drawings in the cathedral.

NOTE BEFORE SIGNING UP: If you sign up for this event, please leave a comment to say whether you'd like to join the tour and if you'd be willing to pay £10 for the group tour if we exceed the limit of the free tour. If you only want to join for the sketching please still leave a comment so I can keep count. We'll meet everyone to start sketching at 12.30 (meeting point: at the entrance of the cathedral cafe.

Sketching enthusiasts of all levels are welcome and you're totally free to pick your subjects from your surroundings (or your imagination). If you've never tried drawing on location, this is a great opportunity to do so!

Another indoor sketch meetup so our fingers don't freeze. 🥶 This is a session dedicated to working with watercolours.

Dig up your watercolour set from the back of your wardrobe and bring some thick paper and brushes to work with if you've got them. I will bring 2 extra watercolour paint sets and extra brushes and paper for anyone who doesn't already have the supplies.

Useful to bring (if you are able to)
- Watercolour set
- Brushes
- Thick paper
- Pencil and/or waterproof black pen
- Bottle of water (so we don't have to use the cafe glasses for paint)

Note: this is not a course or tutorial, but myself (and other members) will be very happy to help if you aren't used to watercolours!
