Hello everybody

St. Gallen has an english speaking book club and you are very welcome to be a part of it.

The idea is that the whole group reads the same book within a month and then we meet in person at the end of the month to discuss the book. This could contain your opinions of characters, the writing style, what you liked or disliked, if it inspired you, ... and so on.

You can also use the facebook page to pre- discuss it. On there you will also find more details about the book club.

For the book of January we chose a book about Tova Sullivan who after her husband died, she began working the night cleaner shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium. Ever since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat over thirty years ago keeping busy has helped her cope. One night she meets Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium who sees everything, but wouldn't dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors - until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova. Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova's son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it's too late...

You can read the book in any language you like but the discussion at the end of the month should be in english.

So get the book from a bookstore or the library, order it online or download it as an ebook or audiobook and read in in your own pace. Though it would be good if you manage to finish the book by the end of the month for the discussion meeting. But even if you dont finish the book you can join the discussion.

Migros Restaurant has all different kind of food and also a buffet where you pay per 100g of food. It is great if you are super hungry but also if you just want a little snack. You could also just come for a drink.
