We startup Startups!
UMakers.org is local digital design and fabrication membership club located on the border of Claremont and Upland, CA. Our shared spaces is for local artists, engineers, entrepreneurs, dreamers and other "Makers" to design and make just about anything. We provide how to classes and access to digital fabrication equipment that most can't afford to purchase on their own. Our growing inventory of mostly digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, a Roland wide format print and cut machine, A laser cutter/engraving machine, a Shopbot CNC router, a Tormach PCNC 440 milling machine, and an electronics lab enable our local community members to design, prototype, invent new and start new businesses.

The OMTech CO2 Laser Workshop is a great place to learn how to use an OMTech CO2 laser machine. The workshop will teach you how to prepare and set up your machine, as well as how to start your laser engraving business. ShopBot workshops at makerspaces typically cover the following topics:- CNC basics: Introduction to CNC technology, machine setup, and tool selection
- Design software: Using design software to create toolpaths for your CNC machine
- Cutting and carving: How to cut and carve a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and plastic
- Assembly: How to assemble your projects using joinery techniques and finishing
- Troubleshooting: Common CNC problems and how to solve them
Students in a makerspace ShopBot workshop will learn how to use a ShopBot CNC machine to create their own projects, such as:
- Woodworking projects, such as furniture, toys, and signs
- Signmaking projects
- Machining projects, such as custom parts and prototypes
