Bubble Tea Time: Happy National Adoption Month!

Happy National Adoption Month! This Bubble Tea Time will be hosted by Claire.

As an transracial Chinese adoptee myself, I often feel like the adoptee community is not talked about when we discuss the Asian American experience. My hope for this event is to bring more awareness to what it means to be Asian American through the eyes of adoptees.

You do not have to be adopted to attend. Anyone open to learning is welcome!

We will start with an activity where you will be given different scenarios that many adoptees experienced growing up. We will then discuss some of the thoughts and feelings that came up during the activity.

Discussion questions after activity:
-What were some thoughts and feelings that you felt after going through the activity?
-Have you met any adoptees who went through some of these experiences and shared them with you?
-How can we better support our fellow Asian American Adoptees?

About Bubble Tea Time:
Throughout 2024, we will be hosting a monthly Bubble Tea Time to explore the many facets of Asian American identity. These are for Asian-American and Asian-diasporic identifying participants only.
We recognize that Asian America is diverse: multiracial, adoptee, South Asian, non-US citizen, refugee, and much more. We don't want to miss out on your story, so please come and share if comfortable.

Please note that we are doing our best to alternate between hosting in St. Louis City and St. Louis County. If you have recommendations for a future boba or chai spot, please let us know!

For our non-Asian friends, we encourage you to check out our group’s other events. Although we appreciate the desire to learn more about cultures, we want to ensure that in this particular space, members of this demographic are not placed in a position to have to teach about their experience.
