SICC Screening #33 - Kalak + Live Q&A with director Isabella Eklöf!@ Bio Bristol
Details
Come and join us for our first director Q&A! On Sunday 1st December we return to the charming Bio Bristol in Bio Bristol to watch the film ‘Kalak', where after the film we host a live Q&A with the director Isabella Eklöf.
As always at our events, the film will be screened with English subtitles, and we will gather in Bristol's own bar after the film to meet each other and connect.
About the film:
Jan, a nurse who is also a father, was sexually abused by his father as a teenager. Working in Nuuk, Greenland, he tries to connect to the culture with sex. When someone calls him a Kalak, a Greenlandic word with a double meaning of both a "true" and "dirty" Greenlander, he wears the epithet as a badge of honor. But ultimately he has to confront his father.
The film is based upon the autobiographical book "Kalak" by Kim Leine (2007), and the film was nominated for the Dragon award for Best Nordic Film at the Göteborg Film Festival.
