Join us for a fun Friday afternoon learning about our local Native American Culture. Together, let's celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a visit to York County Native Lands Park and the Susquehanna National Heritage Area / Zimmerman Center for Heritage Museum.

While visiting the Zimmerman Center let's learn about Captain John Smith’s travels and the Native Americans of the Susquehanna, including the last known settlement of native Susquehannocks.

We will combine two easy walks for a total of 3-4 hilly miles.

After meeting at the Wrightsville Riverfront Park, let's carpool to the Zimmerman Center. After touring the museum and learning about our local Native American culture, we'll head out to explore the Native Lands. Once we complete our visit, let's drive up to Highpoint Scenic Vista for another short walk. There, we can enjoy both the setting sun and the rising full beaver moon. This is the last supermoon of 2024.

Places of interest include the Zimmerman Center, Native Lands County Park, Mason Dixon Trail, historic farm ruins, Dritt family cemetery, Susquehannock Settlement Site, Highpoint Scenic Vista, and Wrightsville Riverfront Park.

This area showcases the Susquehanna River’s historic, cultural, and natural resource contributions to our nation’s heritage.
