Join us as we explore the forestland of Furnace Hills and Chickasalunga Creek valley watershed. This is a NO hunting Sunday since Sunday hunting is now over until next year.

In the 1880's, a railroad rivalry spurred the creation of Penryn Park, Cornwall's answer to Mount Gretna. The name Penryn Park has long since disappeared from maps, but its history, as well as the history of the railroad that serviced it, make for a fascinating look into Lebanon County during the Gilded Age of the late 19th century. “A visit to this park cannot fail to please anyone, as its many attractions will linger in memory as long as life lasts.”

This loop hike will contain a wide variety of terrain, including some off trail connectors, totaling 8-9 miles in length with plenty of vertical. We will maintain a moderate pace. Please be sure of your capabilities before signing up.

We'll begin heading west following the Horseshoe Trail to a Spruce Forest. While taking a side path, let's wonder through an enchanted "Black Forest" before rejoining the HST. From there, we will visit Chickasalunga Creek, Penryn Park, and remnants of the Cornwall / Mount Hope Railroad and Stone Siding Narrow Gauge Line.
