What we’re about
Welcome to Story Walks. These are ninety minute strolling stop and talk events where the focus is on a person or place that helped shape some of the area history.
Ever been told something on a walk and wished you knew just a little bit more to satisfy that lingering curiosity? We look at past events that may hold an interest for members and put them up as topics.
Here are three such recent events featured on our sister group London Urban Adventures that you may have been curious about.
- Holborn: The Knights Templar. More than just an ancient army…
- Mayfair: Mary (Davies of Davies St.) who was tricked into a fake marriage which could have changed the area as we know it.
- King's Road Chelsea: Christian the lion cub still remembered, who lived in a furniture shop in the 60’s!
Following on from interest in these walks, we have set this up as a separate group. Come discover some of London's past, meeting with friendly like-minded people and perhaps joining us for quick refreshments afterwards in a local pub.
Events go ahead regardless of weather. Members come on walks at their own risk and must confirm this to their guests. Please arrange your own insurance if you have concerns.
Please be early as we like to set off fairly on time and can only wait 10 minutes.
Don’t forget to cancel via the “Edit RSVP” button if you can’t make a walk. Please do this well in advance when you know, so it allows good notice for someone else to take your place. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
