Israeli-Palestinian Dialogue

Details

The destructive violence between Israel and the Palestinians has shocked the world. A generalized sense of injustice and insecurity has compelled citizens with different sensibilities to take a stance. The atmosphere of agitation and suspicion towards each other’s motives has led to deep polarization.

We aim to facilitate deep and candid conversations among individuals from all sides of the divide, and we are inviting 6 to 10 people to participate in a dialogue about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Limited to 10 Participants
To create a convivial atmosphere, and ensure that everyone has time to speak and express themselves, we are limiting this dialogue to 10 participants.

Pre-Meeting January 14
Prior to the event, we will hold a short meeting via Zoom to discuss the format and expectations for the dialogue. This virtual meeting will be January 14, 6:30-7:15pm. You must attend the pre-meeting if you wish to participate in this dialogue.

Commitment to Four Meetings
If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to this event.
Registration entails a commitment to the four following meetings:

  • Pre-Meeting: January 14, 6:30-7:15pm
  • First Meeting: January 26, 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Second Meeting: February 23, 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Third Meeting: March 23, 10:00am-12:00pm
  • 20-minute Follow-Up Meeting at an agreed upon moment.

Goal of this Dialogue
This dialogue does not have any goal in regards to the actual situation of Israel and Palestine. It is not our goal to change anyone's mind or to try to solve the crisis. Our goal is to facilitate exchange, and have deep and candid conversations that achieve human connection in spite of differing views.

That said, aside from addressing substantive issues the dialogue will loosely be directed towards relationship-building, reflexive modes of dialogue and the articulation of shared objectives.

Facilitators’ Viewpoint
This event is organized and facilitated by Raphaël Yeretsian and Geoff Brown from DIPA Montreal. While we have opinions on the topic, we remain impartial, and the goal of these dialogues is to allow participants to share their thoughts and experiences without favouring a side, and without seeking to achieve any goal or resolve the situation.
