Mellow Hike: Lost Dog Wash

The Lost Dog Wash hike in the Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve South is a 4.25-mile hike with an AEG of 470 feet [or a 5.25 mile hike with an AEG of 500 feet if you add the Taliesen overlook spur]. It is a counter clockwise loop of the Ringtail, Old Jeep and Old Dog Wash trails. This hike will be led by Joan Carlisle and Ron Deraas (254-931-2601 or 701-263-5605). Since this hike has a relatively high amount of rubble, especially in one section, hikers are urged to bring 2 poles for safety.
There will be an optional lunch available at Over Easy at the southwest corner of Via Linda and Frank Lloyd Wright.
The driver’s fee is $7.

Directions to Lost Dog Wash Trail Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve South address; 12601 N 124th St. Scottsdale
Directions: If you have access to North Dobson gate in Oakwood continue through Oakwood to Dobson Rd.
If you do not have access, turn right onto Riggs Road, then turn left onto Alma School, then left on Ocotillo Rd, turn right onto Dobson rd.
All vehicles will continue on Dobson Rd, turn left onto Price road merging onto AZ-101 loop N, travel about 19.5 miles to Shea Blvd, exit 41.
Turn right onto Shea Blvd, travel about 4.5 miles to 124th street. (There will be a sign just before this corner listing Lost Dog Wash.) Turn left at 124th street, continue through school zone (watch speed limit signs) travel straight through 2 roundabouts and you will arrive at the trailhead parking lot.
There are nice restrooms at the trailhead.
