Clove Lakes Park is a protected [Forever Wild](http://nycgovparks.org/sub_about/parks_divisions/nrg/forever_wild/site.php?FWID=3) site because of its valuable ecological assets including lakes and ponds, outcroppings of serpentine rocks, and Staten Island's largest living thing--a three hundred year-old Tulip Tree! We will take a short walk through the park on our way to the Staten Island Zoo, which boasts one of the largest reptile collections in the U.S.
After spending time there, it is but a short walk to a place for lunch; a place which is noted for its clam pizza pie, and other Italian cuisine.
For people coming from Manhattan, take the 9:30 a.m. ferry. We will meet you in front of the Statue Of Liberty Deli on the Staten Island side.
From there, we will take a fairly short bus ride to the entrance to Clove Lakes Park.
What to bring: Hat with visor, comfortable walking shoes, a beverage of some kind, and a snack (the Staten Island Zoo may not have any food for sale, unless it is canned rattlesnake.)
