San Clemente Morning Wet Sand Hike.
Details
This is great way to start the day here at the San Clemente Pier. We will see Surfers and keep a look out for Marine Life.
About the Hike: This wet sand hike meets on the trail at the entrance to the San Clemente Pier.
We walk south to Califia Beach on either the sand or the trail, depending on the height of the tide. While no dogs are permitted on either beach, they are allowed on the trail and on the beach south of the campground.
From Califia, we either continue on the beach to the Cyprus Shore underpass or use the trail to climb to the campground above Califia (sometimes we do both).
To wrap up the hike, there will be an optional out and back walk to the end of the Pier.
This hike is approximately 3 to 5 miles, depending on which options are chosen.
This is an Advanced Beginners Hike due to the Wet Sand Hike and distance.
What to bring: You will need shoes of some kind. Slip-on shoes or
water shoes would be best. Even if you want to walk barefoot on the
wet sand, you will need your shoes for the campground hike. You may want to wear a sweat shirt, hat, sunglasses and bring water.
About Parking: You can park in the parking lot off Del Mar for $1.50 per hour or street meter parking. Also, off Del Mar on Avenue Santa Barbara you may find free parking up or the down hill.
