Sunshine Adventure Hike 11/16: Phoneline Trail 🥾☀️
Let’s do another fun November Adventure hike at Sabino Canyon by doing the Phoneline Trail!
This trail is a moderately challenging but long 9.8 mile out and back with 1400 feet of elevation gain according to AllTrails and should take us around 4.25 hours with time for pictures and breaks. While our goal is still to make connections in the sunshine, this adventure hike will be more of a challenging journey, suited for hikers who are experienced with difficult trails.
Please note: this is a go at your own pace adventure hike - we will try to stay together as best as possible and I usually go at AllTrails averages as far as pace - but if you are unable to keep up, that’s okay, you can sit back and rejoin the group on the return portion.
We will convene at the trailhead at 6:50am for introductions and begin our hike at 7:00am. Sabino Canyon charges a parking fee, you can pay cash or by app on site.
Please bring lots of water and sunscreen, hiking poles will be very useful with long stretches of incline. The weather forecast right now calls for 43 degrees at the start and 59 degrees by the time we finish. Layers are recommended! Given the length and the difficulty of this trail, please make sure you are prepared for this hike, physically and provision-wise.
The challenge of this hike lies in the steep incline first two miles and then another small scramble before the turnaround. AllTrails lists it as Moderate, I would say it will be slightly less challenging than our Finger Rock, Picacho Peak or Pontatoc adventure hikes.
We will be taking pictures and posting them to our group Facebook page. Thank you for your consent to post by joining our hike 😎
Hope to see you out there!
Thanks,
Jon Powers
