Historic Farnham Christmas Walk (5.0 miles)

walk has a limit of 10 people on MeetUp.

Starting from the Nelson’s Arms on Castle Street, the route goes along Park Row into Farnham Park, then to the Bourne Mill and take the underpass to the Shepherd and Flock. Walking towards Moor Park we join the N Downs Way passing meadows, historic mills and a forge. After walking for 3 miles we return to Farnham town doing a circuit taking in Gostrey Meadows, the Maltings, St Andrew’s church, West Street, Lion and Lamb Yard, The Burrough and return to Castle Street. Historic places of interest will be pointed out including the house where Charles 1st spent his last night as a free man, the architect Harold Falkner’s house, William Cobbett’s home and grave.

Carparking is free on Sundays but will be busy due to the Farmer’s Market held in the Central carpark until 1.30 pm. Alternatives are at the golf club by the castle (Birdies cafe and toilets), Sainsbury’s, Wagon Yard, Waitrose, Riverside. Depending on numbers and interest, we will stop afterwards in the cafes and pubs.

Flat walk no stiles. Could be muddy in places. Streets in Farnham are narrow and can be uneven in places and are likely to be crowded.

This walk is also advertised on the Surrey Heath Ramblers web site (www.surreyheathramblers.org.uk) so there will be more walkers attending than is shown on Meetup. Typically we walk with between 15 and 25 people.
Our walks start promptly and it is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes early to get booted ready for the walk.
If you are unable to attend please remove yourself from the event and text the walk leader so that they are aware that you won't be attending.
As a non member of Ramblers you can attend 3 walks to try us out, after that you are required to join the Ramblers to continue walking with us.
