Winchester School & Castle

Visit one of the UK's leading Christmas markets

Distance: Approx 10 miles (16 km)

Ascent: 1 short & steep ascent (15 mins) the rest is all flat

Walk pace: Brisk

We then end the hike passing a famous 17th century Hospice, Winchester School and Jane Austen's House

You can end the day with a visit to the Christmas market behind the Cathedral and / or do some ice skating and other activities

Terrain: Mainly flat with one short but steep incline. The hike goes through woodlands, across streams and up Catherine's Hill, through fields and another small hill before meandering our way back to the town centre

Bring sandwiches and atleast 1 litre of water with you. There are places along the way we can stop to eat our lunch (by one of the streams)

We will then have a short (20-30 mins) stop at The Bridge Inn Pub in Shawford for a toilet break / drinks.

MEETING PLACE

As just outside the station it can get very crowded. All those that are registered will be sent details of the meeting place which is about 7-8 mins walk away

START TIME: 11.00

END TIME: 17.00 pm

We won't be able to wait for late comers as the walk is already starting late in the day
