Please join a few of us who fancy a slight challenge in this fantastic, if more demanding, walk through an area that was once described as little Switzerland; when you walk down through the woods into Holmbury St Mary (pictured) you’ll see why…..
The walk is in the heart of the delightful Surrey Hills, so do expect hills & one fairly steep incline. However the paths are pretty good and the rewards are plentiful; isolated churches, stunning unspoiled wide vistas from hill tops and along open valleys, beautiful half-timbered villages & hamlets, ancient woodland, rivers & streams, an isolated mill pond nestled between wooded slopes and a great village pub stop along the way. This walk really has it all. Bring boots as there may be some mud in places & a picnic lunch as you will certainly be burning some calories. After all that exercise there will be an opportunity for refreshment and maybe some good food at the Wotton Hatch Pub.
The walk begins at The Wotton Hatch pub on the A25 east of Dorking. We meet at the far back of the pub / village hall car park. RH5 6QQ. I’m limiting numbers as this is not a big car park (please car share if you can)
