What we’re about

Welcome to SW Tennis Time - Just Fun! This group is for all Social Outdoor Lovers who enjoy playing tennis in a laid-back and friendly environment. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned pro, you are welcome to join us for some fun, meet new friends, and enjoy moving some muscles. We prioritize fun and sportsmanship over competition, so come with a positive attitude and a willingness to have a good time. Let's hit the courts, get a little exercise and have a laugh. :)

This is a new MeetUp group that we are testing for a month. Please visit Tennis Canada's self rating guide to determine your level of play. You'll need this info to become a member, through the Member Questions. This just helps to know who will be on the courts with you. I'm just learning myself, probably a level 2. We will also start with a focus on free outdoor city and community courts in the southwest. If the group grows, we can add in more quadrants.

We will have regular Open Play Wednesdays at 5:30 at Richmond Green (posted as an Event) for up to 10 players of all skill levels. We will also have member-initiated play/rally dates (with skill level and # of players determined and posted by you, the members). Please see "Member Arranged Play" below We will all be "Organizers" ... it is super easy!

As there is a fee to set up the group, a small joiner fee of $10 or so will apply when you first come out. More on that later. After than the rounds are free!

Our second Meet 'n Greet is this coming Wednesday, August 14th. It is posted as an event. Join us! Please also read the important "Member Arranged Play" notes below. Message me with questions! I'd love suggestions and your input! Tina (403) 808-2239.

"Member-Arranged Play"

All our members are encouraged to arrange rally/play dates beyond our regular Open Play Wednesdays so you can get out and play on your own schedules All members will will receive a message saying that they are an "Event Organizer". It is super easy. This is how it works:

  1. Determine the date/time and which city/community court you want to play
  2. Go to this MeetUp's main page and select "Create An Event"
  3. Fill in the blanks! Easy.
  4. Be sure to include your preferred level of play in the description (e.g. 2 or better, any level); where you want to rally and/or play a game, the start/end times; the player limit (2 to 6 - e.g. you may want to arrange for doubles but want two extras on the sidelines to rotate with);t he court
    address
  5. Most city courts are unreserved although some city courts can be reserved upon request for a $8.40/hr fee. Call City Recreation at 403-268-3800 for that that reserve guarantee
  6. Press "Publish", then "Announce it now" and all the members will receive a notification and can opt in
  7. You can then group chat with the members who will be joining you

Ta da! See you court-side soon!! :) Tina (403) 808-2239
