Casual bike ride (24 miles) & FREE visit to SAM (Sarasota Art Museum)

Let's enjoy a free art museum but we will have to earn it first by doing a bike ride!

We already did this in January, May and last year's August and had a great time. Exhibitions at SAM change frequently, so it is always worth coming back again.

This time we will be able to enjoy artwork from Tammy Nguyen and Claire Ashley. Timmy is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for her densely layered, intricate compositions, merging figures, abstract shapes, and lush tropical vegetation. Claire will showcase the immersive world of colorfully painted vibrant inflatables.

We will meet at the northern end of Payne Park (where the restrooms are) shortly before 08:00 AM. There is plenty of free parking at the public parking garage on 2150 Ringling Boulevard right next to Payne Park.

We will ride on the Legacy Trail from Payne Park all the way to the Osprey Junction Trailhead (24 miles r/t). As it is Sunday, it is fair to assume that the trail will be fairly busy. Who cares, we will take our time.

Along the way we will make stops to hydrate. Speed will be 10 - 12 mph. The entire ride should take about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the length of the breaks and the group size.

Once we will be back at Payne Park, we will return to the car and can change cloths if necessary. We will then drive to SAM which is less than 5 minutes away.

December 8th is the second Sunday of the month. SAM won't charge the usual $15 entrance fee, means the art museum is free!

An easy going self-guided tour will give us plenty of time to enjoy the latest art exhibition. We obviously don't have to stick together inside the museum.

This will be a social event and no race. However, we still want to get a little bit of exercise, so you must be able to ride 24 miles at a speed of 10 - 12 mph .

Make sure you wear sunscreen, check your bike before the ride and bring along sufficient water and a bike lock.

Please don't schedule anything right after as the bike ride or the museum visit as both might take longer than expected and we certainly don't want to rush it.
