MINIBUS. Avis. Pick up Adelaide Airport 11.00am. Return minibus to Adelaide Airport by 8.00pm.

SEALINK FERRY. Saturday 16th November. Depart Cape Jervis 4.00pm. Wednesday 20th November. Depart Penneshaw 10.00am.

ACCOMMODATION. Penneshaw. Oceanview Apartments. Will book 2 x 4 bedroom luxury apartments. Ie. 8 bedrooms for 10 people. Kingscote. Villas On The Bay. Booked 5 x 2 bedroom apartments.

HOLIDAY ITINERARY. We will fly to Adelaide, pick up a minibus, drive to Cape Jervis and get the Sealink Ferry to Kangaroo Island. We will be staying in luxurious 2 & 3 bedroom apartments at Penneshaw and Kingscote for 4 nights and will have plenty of time to explore Kangaroo Island and go for sight-seeing trips and bushwalks at Flinders Chase National Park. We will drive to Victor Harbour on the way to Cape Jervis and McLaren Vale and Hahndorf on the way back to Adelaide.

ACTIVITIES. We will be sight-seeing, bushwalking and visiting lots of very unique places around Kangaroo Island, including Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, Dudley Wine Cellars, Seal Bay Sanctuary, Flinders Chase NP, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Stokes Bay, Cliffords Honey Farm, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, American River Oysters, Emu Bay Lavender Farm, Bay of Shoals Winery and KI Spirits Gin Distillery.

OPTIONAL TOURS. Seal Bay Sanctuary, Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures, Swim with Seals & Dolphins.

WHAT TO BRING. Bush walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, swimmers, rain jacket and a good sense of fun and adventure.

HOLIDAY COST. $1550 for twin share rooms. $1850 for single rooms. Includes return airfares to Adelaide, 4 nights luxury 2 & 3 bedroom apartments at Penneshaw and Kingscote, 5 days minibus hire, fuel, vehicle insurance, National Park fees, sight-seeing activities and Sealink Ferry trip ($150pp) to Kangaroo Island. Most optional tours are not included in holiday price.

PAYMENT. Please pay Chris $650 deposit by the 30th November 2023 to book your flights, accommodation and seat on the minibus. The $900 or $1200 balance will be due for payment by 31st July 2024.

Today we will be visiting the Gosford (Woy Woy?) Hieroglyphs in the Brisbane Waters National Park on the Central Coast. The hieroglyphs were discovered in the 1970's and their origin is unknown. However it is doubtful that they were created by ship wrecked Egyptian Sailors about 4,500 years ago. They are in too good of condition to be of that antiquity.

We will meet on the western side (Brisbane Waters Drive side) of Point Clare Railway Station at 10:15 am. The 8:50 am Newcastle train from Central arrives at Point Clare Railway Station at 10:11 am. Because of the short platform at Point Clare Railway Station you need to travel in the last four carriages of the train. The walk is mostly on fire trails on a ridge in the Brisbane Waters National Park. The walk will finish at Woy Woy where we will have lunch at the Bayview Hotel.

The walking Distance is about 10 km.

WHAT TO BRING:
Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit, and 2L water.

This 12Km walk contains off track walking with some rock exposure.

From Glenbrook Station, we will descend to Glenbrook creek and make our way through Glenbrook Gorge. There is no track down the Gorge so we will be making our own route. This involves rock hoping, bush bashing and maybe wet feet (although we will try and avoid that!). After a few hours we will reach the Nepean River.

From the Glenbrook Creek / Nepean River junction, we ascend to Portal Lookout for views across Penrith and the Nepean River. (Please see uploaded photos as this climb requires some scrambling).

After lunch, we will bush bash along the escarpment to Tunnel View Lookout. After admiring the views of Glenbrook gorge, we descend the Tunnel View track to Glenbrook creek. We follow upstream to Jelly Bean pool where those who wish to can have a swim. After a break at Jelly Bean pool we head up a track towards Glenbrook station.

TRANSPORT:

7.24am Blue Mountains Train from Central Station to arrive Glenbrook station at 8:28am. (Please check for trackwork and adjust your time accordingly)

DISTANCE: 12Km

DURATION: 6-7hrs

GRADE: Medium. Steep climbs, Steep descents, bush bashing, rock hopping.

WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit, picnic lunch and 2L water.
