This Meetup is Managed by Maggie and Mel

All soap making ingredients and equipment are provided. There is usually a charge of around $35 to cover costs for the ingredients. Things you need to bring: A mould or moulds to take about 1 kilo of soap (around 1.2 litre). We have soap molds you can buy for around $25 but you shouldn't spend money on molds until you know you want to do it regularly since you can use take away food containers, Pringle tins, milk cartons, silicone cake moulds, Tupperware type containers.  If you want to bring your own fragrances you will need at least 30 grams of essential oil or fragrance to scent 1 kilo of soap. More if you like a stronger scent. If using essential oils make sure it is 100% and not a blend with a carrier oil otherwise the scent will be lost.

By participating in any work shop you understand that highly caustic chemicals are part of the soap making process and take full responsibility for using it. If you are a beginner and do not feel confident in handling this chemical Mel and Maggie are happy to do this for you while you look on.

All soaps recipes use only vegetable oils. No palm oil is used because we don't want to be part of habitat destruction. Occasionally we may use milk or honey or beeswax as ingredients. Vegans are welcomed and can be accommodated as we can use plant-based milks and waxes.

It is important to add: this is an inclusive group who welcomes all genders, ethnicities, beliefs, opinions and backgrounds. This is a place for everyone to feel valued and their individuality respected :)
