Welcome to the Sunday October Social Soapers Extraordinaries Meet Up of 2024! Hope you can make it!

It's that time again! Today we'll be making soap that will be ready in time for you to gift to your friends and loved ones for the holiday season. We'll have some fun embeds for you to use if you want to add any. Have a think about what you want to do for your soap and make it come true. Soap makes a great gift. Every one need soap. Every one uses it. It can keep for years and doesn't go off. Just gets better. It's unique and personal and people appreciate the effort you've gone to for them.

You can bring your own favourite scent. Or use ours. We have a wide range of scents to use. If bringing your own essential or fragrance oils you will need at least 30 grams. And it will need to be 100% pure.

We have Covid safe practices in place for all Meet Ups. Masks, anti-bacterial wash and wipes.

NEW: We have 1kg soap moulds available for purchase to use on the day and to keep. These are what a few of us already use. The wooden moulds are perfect to keep your soap insulated and the silicone liner helps with easy unmolding. These are $25, and please message us if you would like to purchase one.

What you will leave with

  • Around 1 kilo of soap
  • Properties and usage of the oils in the soap you have made
  • The day's recipe
  • A great day and meeting new people

On the day- Things to bring

  • bottle of water
  • a mould or moulds that would hold 1.5L of liquid with a bit of room for more. If you don't have a soap mould you could use Pringles tins, take-away containers, milk cartons, yoghurt or ice cream containers, and silicone cake moulds.
  • tea towels to wrap them up
  • shopping bag - green Coles eg

Recommended on the day

  • bring a hat as we would be outdoors but under cover
  • something to snack
  • breathable lightweight clothes. Preferably covering skin on arms and legs and not too loose.

Important things to remember about soap making

Making soap can be quite dangerous, so you will learn about soap safety on the day.
Caustic Soda, lye, Sodium Hydroxide is the most important ingredient in making soap but are also highly corrosive - this is not avoidable. By RSVPing you acknowledge that these materials will be used on the day and near you and potentially handled by you - but as little as possible, and you accept all liability.
Soap can take up to 6 weeks to fully cure before you can use it, please do not use it straight away.
